PARENT INSTRUCTOR

Our “Certified Parent Instructor” training is accredited through the AJ Novick Group, Inc. This specialized training will assist our clients with specific issues relating to parenting, co-parenting, divorce, separation, adoption, and parent/child interactions. Parent education is not psychotherapy. Our Parent training is ideal for those who need classes for court ordered requirements, Child Protective Services, Adoption, Educators, Parole, Probation and Correctional Officers, Clergy, Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence Counselors, Human Resource Managers, and anyone who wants or needs a fresh approach to parent/child related problems, or simply for self-growth. The AJNG model of intervention is based on an educational and cognitive behavioral approach to working with clients.

The AJNG model was developed after an extensive literature review of current and past parenting programs, books, resources and strategies. It is considered one of the most comprehensive approaches to parent training available. These classes will teach students important skills and techniques to parent and communicate more effectively.

Parent education is designed to provide support and assistance for those that have been identified as lacking in parenting skills, in an effort to improve their lives and the lives of their children. The skills and education taught using our approach are much broader than just simply parent training. For many, growing in effective communication strategies, stress management, forgiveness and emotional awareness, for example, will not only improve their personal lives but also their occupational and social relationships.

It is important for our clients to realize that there is nothing wrong with making mistakes in parenting, since it is one of life’s most difficult challenges. How we learn from those mistakes and move forward is most important. Our role as a parenting professional is to educate our clients on how to use new parenting tools in their daily lives and why the use of these new skills will make a difference in how they feel and how their children and loved ones perceive them.

We comply with legal and ethical standards for teaching classes. Our instructional approach is a workbook model. This means every student must have their own individual workbook in class to participate. This ensures everyone is following the same curriculum exactly as we teach them with no messy “handouts”. Our popular client workbook entitled “Parenting in the Twenty-first Century-10 Tools for Better Parenting” is available in both English and Spanish. Our curriculum uses many evidence-based interventions that have been empirically validated.
